Autumn Updates

I guess I may as well admit that this has become a quarterly blog.  I just don't have the time to keep it up like I used too.  I'm sorry the updates are so few and far between, but, it is what it is.  So, here is my Fall TOP 10 list:

1. 2012 "Special Days."  I love making new family traditions with our kids.  Last year, we started a tradition where each kid gets to have a special day with Mom before school starts.  They get to pick what they want to do, and invite who they want to invite.  So far, they always end up inviting each other, and I love it that they are best friends.  This year, Evie had a tea party at the Mad Hatter Tea House in Anoka, and Matthew had a fun afternoon at Chuck E. Cheese.  He even got Ethan to go with, so, he's quite convincing!

2.  First day of Kindergarten!  Matthew and Evelyn are attending Cedar Creek Community School this year, and although it was a an adjustment from the school they attended last year, they have made some good friends, have a good teacher, and seem to really enjoy going every day.

3.  Our annual trip to the Apple Orchard.  Due to the late frost this year, there was no u-pick apples at the orchard, so that was a bummer.  This year, Matthew was hanging out with Daddy, so I took Evie to the orchard along with my mom as she was in town.  We had a good time, but, wasn't quite the same.

4.  We had a nice, long Autumn this year, and we took advantage of it.  Taking a walk in St. Francis down by the river is one of my favorite things to do on the weekend. The kids came with me, and we had a great time!!

5.  The kids have been REALLY into art this Fall.  Here is one of my favorites....

6.  Every year, we go to Berry Hill Farm to get our pumpkins.  It started as just a free hayride and choosing a pumpkin, but each year they add new things for families to do.  This year, it was the tree swing and the bunnies.  We LOVE the pumpkin patch!!!

7.  Pumpkin Carving!!

8.  The Anoka Halloween Parade!!  As some of you may know, Anoka is the self-proclaimed Halloween Capital of the World, and this year, the company Matt works for had a float in the parade.  Our whole family got to ride on it!!  What a special treat!!

9.  This year, the kids really got into Trick or Treating.  Matthew especially running from house to house, and it was tough to keep up with him.  When Matthew saw Matt's old "little devil" costume from when he was young, he had to wear it, and thankfully Evie agreed to be an Angel.  Cute!!

10.  Preparing for Christmas.  With a wonderful Thanksgiving behind us, we spent this weekend preparing for the last Christmas we'll have in this house.  Getting the tree, decorating the house, drinking hot cocoa.

Well, that's all I know for now. So sorry for the spotty updates.  I can't promise 2013 will be any better, but we'll try.  Have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!!!
